Muleshoe is in Bailey County, located 70 miles NW of Lubbock, Texas on US Highway 84 and 30 miles SW of Clovis, New Mexico. 

The city’s current population is 5,158. Muleshoe boasts over 250 thriving  businesses. The top 3 major employers are Muleshoe Independent School District, Muleshoe Area Hospital, and Bunge-Minsa Corporation.

Muleshoe is home to…

The famous National Mule Memorial, also known as “Ol Pete”.  Ol Pete was invited and attended the first inauguration of President George Bush in 2001.

The Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge, is the oldest national wildlife refuge in Texas. The Refuge is the wintering spot for the nation’s largest concentration of sand hill cranes.

Welcoming visitors to the Muleshoe Heritage Center is the “World’s Largest Muleshoe” standing 22 feet high and 17 feet wide! The Muleshoe Heritage Center offers visitors the opportunity to visit early day West Texas buildings including the Janes Ranch House, the Figure 4 Ranch House, a log cabin, the Muleshoe Ranch Cook House and Bunk House, the Virginia City Hotel and the original Muleshoe Santa Fe Depot. 

Additionally, Muleshoe offers several other recreational opportunities including more than 130 acres of parks with playground equipment, softball and baseball fields, Water Park, Disc Golf, Roger Miller Little League Park, public tennis courts, Muleshoe Country Club and Golf Course, a health and fitness center, and the most active Senior Citizen Center in West Texas.
